PRIVATE WATER

We offer two options for private water fly fishing trips: a beginner-friendly pond for instruction and families and guided trips through Graves Mountain Lodge. 

THE POND AT BAKER ACRES

Our stocked pond is teeming with sunfish, bass, and catfish and perfect for learning how to fly fish. Wide open casting is available on most of the bond. In our lessons, you will go over basics such as casting, knot tying, and how to catch a fish. Afterwards you’ll feel confident enough to hit the streams on your own. Perfect for families and beginners. Groups welcome.

MOSSY CREEK

One of the most renown streams in the Commonwealth, this limestone stream offers challenging fishing to the most skilled anglers. Mossy Creek provides the best chance to catch a trophy brown in the Valley. Vegetation surrounds the banks and perfect presentation and drifts are the only way to get a fish’s attention. Let us show you the nuisances of Mossy, and different techniques for success. Experienced anglers welcome. 

SHENANDOAH RIVER

Wade or float one of America’s most scenic rivers. We have several locations if you are looking to beat the summer heat and wade fish for smallies. The Shenandoah also has plenty of boat ramps for full day floats from 6-8 hours long. Come find out why these bronzebacks are considered one of the toughest fighting fish. Perfect for both beginners and experienced fishermen.

PUT AND TAKE STREAMS

Stocked streams dot the Shenandoah Valley. We'll take you to the most productive stretches based on the time of year if you are interested in keeping your catch. A valid Virginia fishing license and trout stamp are required. Everyone is welcome, from beginners to advanced anglers.

SHENANDOAH NATIONAL PARK

Fly fishing in Shenandoah National Park has some of the best angling experiences amidst breathtaking natural beauty. Shenandoah streams offer fly fishers the opportunity to explore a diverse range of fishing options. From chasing native brook trout in pristine mountain streams to seeking the elusive brown and rainbow trout in the Shenandoah River, there's something for every angler.

 

Fishing within the park's boundaries is a unique experience, where you'll need a valid Virginia state fishing license and adhere to Shenandoah National Park fishing regulations.

The park's streams consistently produce large brook trout, and the best hatches can be found in areas like the Rapidan River and Moormans River.
